We’re proud to offer a variety of scholarships for those interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.
Healthcare Career Scholarship
The Volunteers of Prairie Ridge Health offer scholarship opportunities for high school students who plan to pursue a two- or four-year degree in any healthcare field. The Stare Nursing Scholarship
The Stare Scholarship, named in honor of Fredrick A. Stare and Nina I. Stare, is open to students at Columbus High School who aspire to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse in the medical or public health field through further education.
If you are interested in applying for this scholarship, please visit the Student Services office at Columbus High School to obtain an application form and for more information about the selection process.
Amanda Murphy Memorial Scholarship
Amanda was a devoted ER nurse at Prairie Ridge Health, dedicating her entire professional career to serving others in the healthcare field. Her life was tragically cut short by COVID-19, but her love for learning, healthcare, and helping others lives on through the Amanda Murphy Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship is offered to dependents of Prairie Ridge Health team members who aspire to pursue a career in healthcare, honoring Amanda’s legacy and dedication to the field. Thanks to the generosity of the community, friends, and family, Prairie Ridge Health is able to continue this scholarship in Amanda’s name.

Ruth Kohlwey Nursing Scholarship
In memory of Ruth Kohlwey, this scholarship is made possible through the generosity of the Kohlwey family and the Prairie Ridge Health staff. The Kohlwey Scholarship is available to PRH team members who are pursuing a nursing career or extending their nursing education.
