As early as middle school, Leslie Alzuhn-Hansen, MD, FACOG*, knew that she wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. Today, as the first doctor in her family, she has dedicated her practice to helping women.

Dr. Hansen grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She received her B.A. in Pre-Medicine and Biology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois and her M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. “In college I worked the front desk of a fertility clinic. That experience really solidified my decision to keep going into healthcare,” said Dr. Hansen.

She completed her Residency at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center in Dearborn, Michigan. Dr. Hansen decided to move back to Wisconsin, practicing in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Door County Memorial Hospital – Ministry Health OB/GYN in Sturgeon Bay, Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie, Revitalize MD, S.C. in Green Bay, and Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay.

In July of 2019, Dr. Hansen joined the healthcare team at Prairie Ridge Health in Columbus where she specializes in obstetrics and gynecology. “I a.m. happy with my decision to focus on women’s health,” said Dr. Hansen. “I’ve been able to make an impact on young women with menstrual issues, watch families grow through childbirth, assist older women going through menopause, and be there for women diagnosed with cancer.”

Getting to know her patients and their families is a priority for Dr. Hansen. “I like to develop a good relationship with my patients and get to know them as a person, not just someone coming in for medical care. I want to help people find treatment right in their community instead of having to travel. I try to be helpful in suggesting ways to modify lifestyle and be aware of non-traditional options.”
