“To think that over 100 people from within PRH and throughout the community joined together to make this video a reality is truly inspiring,” said Kristi Line, Executive Director of Foundation. “Our video is a meaningful and memorable way to remember, honor and support those dealing with breast cancer and we’re so excited to be part of this movement.”

PRH’s video features the hospital team, the Columbus Police and Fire Departments, Lifestar EMS, the Volunteers of PRH, and local breast cancer survivors all dancing to Andy Grammar’s “Good to be Alive (Hallelujah).”  All participants are wearing pink-colored exam gloves to support breast cancer prevention and to let those facing the disease know they are not alone in the fight. Together, they have already raised $2,000 for the Pink Ribbon Angels.  To see Prairie Ridge Health’s video and vote go to www.pinkglovedance.com or Facebook at www.facebook.com/ColumbusCommunityHospitalWI. Viewers may vote once a day from Sept. 12 - Sept. 23. The winners will be announced Sept. 30.

“Some people walk for breast cancer and others run. Medline inspires people to dance for breast cancer. The passion and energy displayed by the thousands of participants dancing is infectious and inspiring. They are all helping to make Medline’s Pink Glove Dance a ‘movement’ in every sense of the word,’ said Andy Mills, president of Medline.

History of Medline’s Pink Glove Dance

Back in 2009, Medline Industries, Inc. turned everyday exam gloves from blue to pink to help create a comfortable, friendly and open dialogue about breast cancer between nurses and patients. This same year, Medline created the original Pink Glove Dance video with hospital workers at a Portland, Ore. hospital. A few years later, Medline launched the Pink Glove Dance Video competition, which has brought together 250,000 healthcare professionals, patients, survivors and communities to celebrate hope for a cure and honor all who have been affected by the disease – all through the joy of dancing. The Medline Pink Glove Dance video competition has inspired nearly 650 dance videos and raised more than $1.2 million for breast cancer charities nationwide. In addition, Medline has donated $1.7 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) in support of its mission to save lives through early detection and offering free mammograms for women in need.
